"Naughty Marietta A Delight in Every Way"
- Falmouth Enterprise

Tramp! Tramp! Tramp! Along the Highway
In July 2010, the College Light Opera Company celebrated the 100th Anniversary of Victor Herbert's Naughty Marietta. Wildly considered his most famous work. Marietta was an instant hit after it debuted in 1910.
With a generous grant from the Victor Herbert Foundation, Jonathan Brennand, Music Director, and Mark Pearson, Stage Director, attempted to recreate Victor Herbert and librettist, Rida Johnson Young's original intention. Over the past 100 years the operetta had been dumbed down and heavily revised, both score and libretto. The Foundation provided access to the VH Collection at the Library of Congress which holds all of Herbert's origina autograph scores.
Brennand then reconstructed the entire score from Herbert's original manuscripts, revealing orchestrations and music that hadn't been heard in over 100 years. Additional underscoring and dance music had been cut during the rehearsal process was also restored.
